Custom Fitting Questions & Answers

1. What is custom fitting, and why is it important for golfers?

All golfers are different, so regardless of age or ability using the right specification clubs can make a massive difference to performance and ultimately enjoyment of the game. By matching the correct length, lie, weight, flex, grip size and even appearance significant benefits can be found across increased length, accuracy, feel and ball flight.

2. What is your process for custom fitting? (e.g., steps involved, technology used, brands fitted for)

The custom fitting process actually begins before the appointment as we ask for a quick questionnaire to be filled in so we can understand a little more about the individuals game and what they are looking to get out of a fitting – for some this could be more distance, for others more accuracy or more specifically better shape with a certain club such as the driver. The fitting will normally begin with hitting some warm up shots during which time the fitter can get to know more about the individuals game. We will then utilise our ball tracking software (and years of experience) to work through various parameters such as length, lie, loft, weight, appearance, shaft type, head size to build the perfect club. With fitting heads and shafts from all of the top manufacturers we can cover all options. You’ll see the ball fly on to our driving range and see for yourself what benefits you are achieving. Our Flightscope ball tracking software will back up what you see with your own eyes and provide data to identify the best performing model or specification for you.

3. Who is custom fitting for? (Beginners, advanced players, specific skill levels)

Custom fitting is for all golfers regardless of ability. There is no such thing as standard, even if you think you are average height or swing speed there are so many variants at play during the swing that it’s almost certain that a tweak to club length, lie, flex or grip size can have huge benefits. Playing with standard clubs as a beginner when you should be using something specific to you can make what is already a challenging game even harder! Of course for the more advanced player looking for additional marginal gains we can delve deeper into shaft weights, kick points, bounce angles.

4. How long does a custom fitting session typically take?

We would normally allow an hour for single club fittings such as a driver, fairway or hybrid and a set of irons. For full bag fittings we allow up to 2 hours.

5. What should customers bring to a fitting session?

Ideally their own clubs so they can warm up with a familiar set and also so we can do some before and after analysis.

6. What are the main benefits customers can expect from a fitting? (E.g., improved accuracy, better consistency, more distance)

Increased distance, improved accuracy, enhanced consistency, a greater understanding of what each club does and how far it goes.

7. Do you offer fittings for all types of clubs? (Driver, irons, putter, wedges, full bag)

Yes, everything from full bag fitting through to single clubs to fill in a gap.

8. What makes your custom fitting service unique compared to others?

We have access to all of the major brands – Ping, Callaway, TaylorMade, Mizuno, Cobra, Wilson, Titleist, Cleveland, Srixon, Lynx, Scotty Cameron, Odyssey and Vokey and our fitters have years of experience and will offer a completely unbiased option without any brand affiliation.

9. Do you have any customer success stories or testimonials?

Check out our reviews from 100’s of delighted customers. (Rodney, I’ll forward these)

10. What are the costs, and do customers get any perks (e.g., money off clubs if purchased)?

Our custom fitting sessions are free of charge, we will then work with you to ensure we find the perfect fit to match your budget! We regularly check and compare our prices to ensure we’re offering you best value alongside a first class service.

11. Where and how can customers book a fitting session?

All of our fittings take place within our covered studios at Manston Golf Centre. You can book online or in store.
